How To Create An Information Website: One of my first websites was an information website. It was a lifestyle website about my favorite holiday destination. This is my story about how I created an information website and how I monetized the website for passive income.
How To Create An Information Website
I started creating websites around 2003 as a hobby. It wasn’t until around 2008 that I realized that you could actually make money from those websites. That is you could make passive income from the information on the websites by placing Google Ads on the websites.
1. You must have a website presence
An information website is a content based website. In other words, you are going to provide information for interested people about a certain topic. I simply provided information about my favorite holiday destination.
First, I purchased a moderate WEB-HOSTING PLAN. Second, I registered a domain name that reflected my favorite holiday destination. I used something like this: summerbayholidays.com (This is only an example. It is not the actual website.).
In the early days, I used Adobe Dreamweaver to create static websites. However, as times changed I now use WordPress with a premium WordPress theme.
Though I designed responsive templates in Adobe Dreamweaver; nevertheless, I found WordPress to be the best option for websites or blogs. WordPress is free software that has many advantages over the old static designed websites. With WordPress plugins, you can create awesome websites and blogs today.
2. You must plan your website content
When I first created the information website, I spent some time discovering the KEYWORDS that people were searching for in relation to the holiday destination. Once I found the most popular KEYWORDS, I started planning the content pyramid for the website based on those keywords.
I developed three tiers to the website. I developed a tier one web-page for accommodation. The second tier web-pages for accommodation focused on each individual accommodation. The third tier web-pages drilled down every further to give in-depth information about each individual accommodation.
I also created a tier one web-page for camping grounds. The second tier web-pages gave information about each camping ground. The third tier web-pages drilled down even further in order to provide everything the visitor needed to know about the camping grounds. There were several camping areas in and around the holiday destination. Within each camping area, there were several different camping grounds. Over time I had written many web-pages providing information for each of those camping grounds.
I did the same with caravan parks, adventure parks, businesses and much more. The website grew from five pages to twenty pages to hundreds of pages.
3. You must monetize your website
At first I simply used Google Adsense to monetize the holiday website. As timed passed, I found I could promote affiliate products on the website, especially Amazon products.
There are hundreds of products you can place on your information websites. With a holiday website, you can advertise sunglasses, cameras and all sorts of beach wear. People love clicking on your links and purchasing items for their holiday.
If you want to learn how to create an information website, the best advice I can give you is this: Create a website with WordPress and a WordPress theme, start writing good content information and make sure you monetize the website with Google Adsense and maybe some affiliate products.
